La Sospesa

Solo dance & visual performance, 2019

La Sospesa is the portrait of a woman submerged by her thoughts who tries to escape the rational by reconnecting herself to her origins, her roots, the earth. Hair conveys a duality that oscillates between control and abandonment, between the rational and the unconscious, between the masculine and the feminine, as well as, with a more metaphysical look, between spirit and matter. This space of tension that is being created is the symbolic reflection of an increasingly superficial and rapid society where spaces overlap, where new identities appear where time becomes schizophrenic and bodies are exhausted. From this observation, the necessity is to find a deep connection with one's own body, by contacting one's own instinct as well as one's own animality.

Between performative installation, theatre and dance, with a touch of madness, La Sospesa exposes the modest nudity of a woman.

NOTES

La Sospesa is an "evolving" project that adapts itself to performance spaces, such as: theatres, galleries, museums, alternative and non-conventional spaces. The Sospesa can be played in two formats: 40' long form (2 performers); 20' short form (1 performer).

As intimate work, La Sospesa requires interactive proximity with audiences, immersing them into a contemplative space that induces an emotional and perceptual experience.

“In a time, in a space ... indefinite interrupted, suspended. A jellyfish floats forward like a tightrope walker balancing on a wire. A woman is manipulated by what lies outside her, or she does it to herself. She engages in a play where roles are reversible, where she gradually frees herself from real and imaginary threads. A series of intimate landscapes interweave to evoke a personal and archaic memory made by images, sensations and emotional states.”
